Iron Maiden - "Moonchild" live at RBC Ottawa Bluesfest 2012 - 1080p resolution!
Nick Ingman and Terry Devine-King's "Rising Mercury" served as the intro which led into Iron Maiden's "Moonchild" at RBC Ottawa Bluesfest on July 7, 2012.
Recently got a Canon PowerShot ELPH 300 HS which I used to shoot this video in 1080p and apparently it has two microphones for stereo recording too. This camera replaced my Canon PowerShot SD1000 which I used in my previous Maiden @ Bluesfest video last time they were here in 2010. Camera technology has come a long way.
I wouldn't get my hopes up about Maiden headlining Bluesfest every year, but it would be great if they return every two years as it seems like they're doing. I don't see why not; this festival grew from a tiny little showcase on blues to featuring some huge rock/metal acts and this year they have even added electronic music. This will become Canada's Woodstock.
Highlights from this year included:
-Bruce's nonsensical ranting about Nicko's birth certificate (trying to invoke Donald Trump's "birther" conspiracy?);
-A metalhead couple slow-dancing to "Wasted Years" (LOL) and the band hitting some wrong notes during this song (yikes);
-Several people around me needing medical attention (heat exhaustion, dehydration, and epileptic seizure), and being the attentive good Samaritan to tend to these victims, I ended up missing chunks of the show;
-An insane guy claiming one of the band members was his godfather (why do the nutjobs find creative ways to talk to me?);
-Somehow, somebody managed to smuggle fireworks into the grounds and set them off during the show;
-Alice Cooper, who opened for Maiden, was decapitated via guillotine;
-People yawning during the long instrumental section of "Seventh Son of a Seventh Son";
-The "mechanical stage Eddie" (not the live one that wanders around interacting with the band) with the built-in pyro (I won't spoil it any further for those who haven't seen it);
-Dave played a Gibson V and a Gibson Les Paul (not sure if I had seen him with these guitars before).

I knew a few young teens who went to Scotland to play in a bagpipe & drum band competition. Their flight landed in England & when in the airport they noticed a group of men being escorted by police through the terminal & that these men were getting applause & screams of joy shouted out towards them. These teen boys were wondering why “these fat old English guys were so special” until someone nearby shouted out “it’s Iron Maiden you twits” lol! This is what happens when you don’t raise your suburban children to appreciate rock & metal lol!
